The Conservatory is located just above Portland's city center in the historic Firehouse Theatre. Students study in our spacious Acting Studio and in the intimate 72-seat Theatre. The Conservatory's cozy quarters allows students to interact with staff and faculty on a daily basis with offices, studio space, and theatre all housed in the same building. We have an onsite library, as well as a warm and inviting green room with a full kitchen. We believe our space gives students and performers a place to work and a home in which to relax.

Rental Information

The historic Firehouse Theatre, home to the Portland Actors Conservatory, offers both an upstairs studio space for rehearsals as well as an intimate 70-seat theatre for rehearsals and performances. The theatre has state of the art lighting and sound systems which are included in rental cost. A lovely air-conditioned lobby, green room and kitchen, large AEA compliant dressing room and backstage bathroom are also included.

Stage: 21'x40' modified proscenium. Wood-sprung masonite.

Studio: 25'x40' finished hardwood covered with 1/8" black marley floor cover.

Upon agreement, renters are required to provide proof of 501c status (if applicable). Renters must also provide one of the following: proof of $500,000 liability insurance; or, $200 for PAC umbrella coverage, 50% of the rental fee, and a $200 refundable deposit. If a company has $500,000 worth of insurance, no PAC representative is needed at each show. If a company is using the $200 umbrella insurance package, then a PAC representative must be present at each show for a rate of $10 per hour.

Each renter has the option of providing their own box office and front-of-house staff, or hiring PAC staff for an additional fee.

*Note PAC must approve all set designs, building plans and light hanging plans. All non-PAC technicians and staff working for the renter must meet with PAC's Technical Director prior to use of The Firehouse Theatre.
